What Steps to take when you first introduce your cat to its new Home:

Choose a room which you can dedicate to your cat for a few days. This will become their room until things settle down. Place their litter tray, food and water bowls and a sleeping bed or basket here. When the time is right, restrict your cat to one room and sit quietly with him/her.
Plenty of play time with your cat is essential.
If you are planning on introducing another cat or dog, it has to be done slowly. Be there every step of the way, until the cat gets used to your other pets.

What you need to do when you cat runs away from Home:

Always watch the doors that lead to the outside. If your cat runs away, immediately inform your neighbors and try to get signs up in your yard. Keep smelly food to attract the cat back to your home. If you are able, leave the door ajar and kitty may come back in on their own. Post on the local Lost & Found fb page of your county and report to your local shelters and vet.
Inform us as soon as you can.
